Central Bank Macroeconomic Modeling Workshop
28-29 October 2009, Jerusalem, Israel

CALL FOR PAPERS
We are happy to announce that the Bank of Israel will host the 2009 Central Bank Macroeconomic Modeling Workshop. As in previous years the workshop will bring together researchers and macro modelers from many central banks and academic researchers, who will present recent papers and discuss the state of modeling in their institutions.
This year's main theme will be "New advances in open economy modeling." Economic developments in recent years have shown that various aspects of an open economy are essential to the understanding of macroeconomic outcomes. Inflation in most economies has risen due to external commodity price shocks. The financial crisis that started in the United States has had significant spillover effects on other economies. An important aspect of open economies not well resolved in most central bank models is the determination of the exchange rate. Can we improve on that? If not, how can we take better account of the uncertainty surrounding its behavior? The organizing committee will give priority to policy-oriented research on the main theme, but will also welcome any papers on central bank modeling.
Submission of draft papers or at least extended abstracts should be sent to ModelWorkshop@boi.gov.il by 30 June 2009. Each paper submitted should indicate a corresponding author and include contact information. Notification of paper acceptance will be made by 29 July 2009.
